Alex Boye is a very talented and well known performer where we live, in Utah. But, the opportunity to share his talents widely, has been – until tonight – limited. Tonight he and his band performed on the mega-hit “America’s Got Talent” on NBC.
As he, and his group, performed, pouring their hearts, souls and talent into their 90 second grab for the brass ring, the audience and judges rose to their feet. The room exploded with joy and energy as the audience caught Alex’ passion and energy and fed it back to him and his band.
Having won resounding “Yes” votes from all four judges, Alex was asked, by Nick Cannon, how he felt. Fighting back tears, Alex responded:
“When you are on the other side of things you feel like it’s never going to happen.” What a powerful sentiment. How many times have each of us felt that way – that whatever we yearn for, believe in or dream of – is never going to happen? And then, one day you break through.
At 3 Gaps we talk a lot about gaps, mostly in the context of gaps “within” us (in challenging our beliefs, living our values or pursuing our goals) but rarely about gaps “outside” of us – that are challenging our passion to move forward, to make a difference, to leave our mark on life.
Keep pushing, keep striving, keep reaching, keep aching to close those gaps – both inside and outside of yourself. This is a great country – a country founded on the premise that if you give people a little space and a bit of a chance – they can soar. It’s a country we call America – and it’s got talent!
